Melissa McCarthy recently snapped up a brand-new home in the coveted Valley Village area of Los Angeles for $2.4 million, Variety reports. This was approximately $200,000 more than asking price, which just goes to show the increasing competitiveness of real estate in the neighborhood. The custom-built mansion, which spans approximately 2,800 square feet, features four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms spread out across one story; its aesthetic is perhaps best described as farmhouse chic, but upgraded amenities like an integrated speaker system give it a more modern twist.

Inside the residence, a long, skylight-lit entrance gallery is flanked on either side by a half bathroom and a mudroom/laundry room, and leads directly to the main living space at the back of the home. The open-concept living and entertaining area includes impressive floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelves, with a whole wall of glass sliders opening out onto the backyard. The pristine white-painted kitchen features custom wood-paneled cabinetry and a large center island. Directly opposite the kitchen is a cozy dining bay lined with wood paneling and topped by skylights.

Three of the four bedrooms in the one-story abode are located just off the main entrance gallery, while the master suite is located in a more private area toward the back. It includes two walk-in closets and a spalike marble-walled bathroom with a glass-enclosed shower and deep soaking tub, and the master bedroom offers access to the backyard through a wall of glass sliders. Outside is a covered loggia with a dining and lounge area, a built-in barbecue, and a heated swimming pool and spa with a modern, minimalistic fountain.

McCarthy and her husband, actor and producer Ben Falcone, also own at least two other homes in the Toluca Lake area, one of which they listed on the rental market last March for $10,000 a month.
